I have just returned home from a fabulous vacation in Egypt (the land of the pharaohs and of course, Queen Cleopatra) via a quick weekend trip to England to see my good friend Victoria.
The Egyptians were friendly and extremely positive about Obama winning the election, which seemed to be the talk of the town.
The highlights of my trip included:
- Soaking up the atmosphere at many historic ancient tombs and temples
- Enjoying fun-filled travel companions (Mags and Vikki) and newly acquired friends (Trevor, Jill, Hanen, Teresa, Terry, Erin, Carl and Todd)
- Absorbing the stunning landscapes from the mighty pyramids to the distinctly colored Nile to the stark desert of the Sinai to the inviting Red Sea
- Cruising the Nile in style on the Movenpick (yes, the ice cream people)
- Inhaling fabulous cuisine, including a huge lobster for our Thanksgiving meal
- Exploring the serene underwater world of the Red Sea
- Lounging in my new favorite oceanside town, Dahab
- Breathing the beautiful, clean air of the Sinai, especially after Cairo
- Walking to the famous Moses Burning Bush
- Touring the majestic St. Katherines Monastery
- Being impressed by the amazingly detailed cravings on the temples
- Being mesmerized by the colorful and meditative Whirling Dervishes
- Relaxing on the feluccas (traditional sailboats)
- Watching camels bob across the desert plains
- Seeing cats, cats, and more cats
In sa Allah (God willing), I will return to Egypt and its magicalong with finding Cleopatras tomb.
